MURRIETA, CA – POWER AUTOMEDIA is excited to announce that accomplished automotive executive Jonathan Mill has joined the company. Mill has accepted a role as Executive Producer and General Manager of Alloy Studios, Power Automedia’s video production company.

With ten years of multi-media marketing and advertising, product development, and publishing experience plus his familiarity with all things automotive, Mill has worked hard to pursue his professional career in an industry he is passionate about.

“We are excited to join forces with Jonny Mill as our Executive Producer/GM of Alloy Studios,” said James Lawrence CEO of Power Automedia. “Jonny will be an integral part of Alloy’s leadership team, and will help develop cutting edge digital and interactive products for our clients. We are very excited to put Jonny’s vision and creativity to use on behalf of our partners.”

Prior to joining the Power Automedia team, Jonathan Mill began his career in the entertainment space with automotive being just a hobby. His career switched gears, though, when he developed the award-winning E-Stopp; a push-button emergency brake, and an anti-theft unit for custom and classic cars.

He soon found himself back into the entertainment side of automotive, leading integrated marketing and sales for broadcast and over-the-top content. Jonathan Mill later became Publisher of Hot Rod magazine where he ushered in a new era with the Discovery Communications acquisition. Additionally, Mill has been honored as the SEMA Gen III Innovator and has been an active volunteer leader within SEMA.

DRAG RACING FRIENDS is a rowdy video talk show that hits on all cylinders in the world of drag racing. Chad Reynolds is the ringleader of this circus joined by his trusty co-host, Street Outlaws star Kayla Morton, and a special guest. Hosted by Brian Petty, the show will discuss tuning, power adders, drivetrain, chassis setup, engine building and more – spanning the range from beginner to top tuning tactics of the world’s best crew chiefs.

REWIND curates weekly, selected and highlighted drag racing clips. With video content curated from SpeedVideo and the web, REWIND brings you highlights from racing events, record-setting runs, crashes, and more. REWIND will feature the winner’s circle’s footage from a recent race, a compilation of records, and major driving saves.

Season 1 will entail 40 episodes between the four shows over the next three months. Full episodes will be live on SpeedVideo.com each week for subscribers, with one episode each month available to all via Speedvideo, Drag Illustrated, Dragzine, Facebook, and YouTube. Murrieta, CA, March 23, 2020 — SpeedVideo has entered into a broadcast partnership with the wildly popular automotive event series Street Car Super Nationals (SCSN) to live stream the Las Vegas and St. Louis events through 2022.

The COMP Cams Street Car Super Nationals 16 is coming to SpeedVideo on November 19-22 live from The Strip at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The legendary festival of speed is expected to draw more than 500 cars in 16 classes with everything from eighth-mile grudge cars to quarter-mile Pro Mods and everything in between.

For the third consecutive year, the event is utilizing all four of the facility’s expertly-prepared lanes with SpeedVideo providing complete coverage of drag racing’s true marathon event.

“We’re looking forward to working with SpeedVideo and Chad Reynolds,” said SCSN Promoter Mel Roth. “The Street Car Super Nationals is already a huge event. With SpeedVideo adding more camera angles and a dedicated host keeping our fans up-to-date and entertained as only Chad can, [this] will advance SCSN Las Vegas to another level!”

Summer Speed Spectacular featuring the Street Car Super Nationals will be taking place on August 14-15 live from St. Louis. Summer Speed Spectacular showcases the drag radial, Pro Mod, and the Nostalgia Drag Racing League classes. Chris Blair, World Wide Technology Raceway Executive Vice President and General Manager, went over the expectations for this upcoming year, “The event continues to grow and we expect a tremendous boost as it is now part of our St. Louis Speed Fest, and being able to work with SpeedVideo means that we get to showcase this amazing event to a greater audience of racing enthusiasts.”

“This event is one that appeals to young and old and we are excited to take another tremendous step in 2020,” said Chris Blair. “Racing enthusiasts can experience the thrill of nostalgia cars, the wheel standing action of drag radials and the ground-pounding excitement of Pro Mods all on the same day. It’s a unique event that everyone will love.”

“Street Car Super Nationals holds a special place in this industry,” said Speedvideo General Manager Tom Bobolts. “There are very few events that have stood the test of time and continued to grow each year. Now entering its 16th year in Vegas and St. Louis in its 7th year, these events continue growing and attracting a loyal following. We couldn’t be happier to be able to bring the experience LIVE to SpeedVideo subscribers.”

Catch the full live event coverage and action of the COMP Cams Street Car Super Nationals 16 and the Summer Speed Spectacular featuring the Street Car Super Nationals events in live HD available on SpeedVideo.com for annual or monthly subscribers. SpeedVideo is Moving to a Subscription Model in 2020 in Partnership with All of Our Event Promoters. Here is Why.

A joint letter written to the drag racing community from SpeedVideo and 14 leading drag racing promoters.

For many years, drag racing has been live streamed on the internet free of charge. The advances of technology and reasonably priced video equipment made this possible. Promoters often paid for the cost of the production, or shared the cost with the live streaming broadcaster. It was a reasonably workable system except for three major flaws:

  1. Live broadcasts were completely reliant on advertisers or the promoter paying for production costs. This limited both the quality of the production as well as how many events could be broadcast. Many broadcasts had huge audiences, but lost money.
  2. Promoters lost potential ticket sales from their events, which often costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to produce. For every person watching at home, a potential ticket sale was lost.
  3. Most new, smaller, or specialty events aren’t broadcast because there was no way to pay for them.

Watching drag racing for free seems like a win-win, but the free model isn’t that good for drag racing. After a great deal of evaluation of how to grow and improve live drag racing broadcasting, the best path forward was to create a subscription model. Event promoters and SpeedVideo who produce the broadcasts will be free to work together to create amazing broadcasts with higher-quality productions, and to expand and cover more events, with a model where each viewer pays a small amount, rather than trying to rely only on the backs of advertisers only.

The world’s biggest and best drag races will continue to be streamed on SpeedVideo – including Lights Out, No Mercy, Sweet 16, World Cup Finals, Outlaw Armageddon, TX2K, NMRA, NMCA, PDRA, Outlaw Street Car Reunion, UCC, Bounty Hunters, WoooStock, F2LK, Snowbirds, US Street Nationals, select Drag Illustrated events, and more to come. SpeedVideo subscriptions will be available for $24.95 per month, or $199 for the entire year ($149 introductory rate), which will get you access to around 40 of the premier live streamed drag racing events. The contribution each viewer makes will help grow drag racing, increase the quality of the broadcasts, and attract new promoters, events, and racers.

Moving SpeedVideo to subscription will benefit:

  • Promotors – a revenue share will allow them to grow their events, pay purses, and cover expenses.
  • Racers – more healthy events and racing series.
  • Viewers – higher-quality broadcasts and a wider variety of events.

We have all come together in agreement – this is the best path forward for the future of drag racing. This will enable each drag racing fan to get a great, high-quality broadcast but also keep the sport viable. We are hopeful that each drag racing fan will look at this like a step forward for drag racing and how this will contribute to the future growth of the sport. We all love drag racing and many of us do this not just for a living, but as a way of life. We appreciate all of your support.

Respectfully, signed by:

Power Automedia’s highly anticipated “Horsepower Wars: $10K Drag Shootout” storyline is underway – with the fourth of the eleven episodes recently debuting at HorsepowerWars.com, Facebook, YouTube and leading social media platforms.

For the $10K Drag Shootout, four teams, each with five crew members, have been given $3,000 to purchase a car and $7,000 worth of Summit Racing gift cards that allow each crew to pick and choose from the distributor’s extensive selection of go-fast goodies.

The teams had 10 days to build as fast as they can, and then will be given the opportunity to lay down the fastest e.t. possible September 13-16 at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. In the meantime, trash talking and infighting are sure to ensue. Whichever team handles sleep deprivation best, will be crowned the winner and get to keep their car. One of the other three rides will be given to one lucky viewer – meaning you could actually walk away with a Horsepower Wars drag car of your very own.

“The $10K Shootout debut has been really strong. The teams and drama is off the charts,” said James Lawrence, Power Automedia and Horsepower Wars CEO.

“Racers are going to be racers, looking for every tiny loophole or advantage they can get. At the same time, the clock is ticking. One misstep can set back the whole build,” said Scott Parker, Power Automedia and Horsepower Wars Senior Director of Content & Strategy. “Although you can watch this series on any device, this is the type of show you are going to want to queue up on your smart TV’s YouTube app and watch with your friends. It really does transcend the automotive genre and is just plain entertaining.”

The four teams are:

  • Team Boddie, 1984 Buick Regal: nitrous big-block Chevy – led by Russ Wullenwaber & Jay Boddie.
  • Team Bigun, 1986 Mustang GT: turbo LS – led by Lyle Barnett & Eric Yost.
  • Team Stinky Pinky, third-gen Camaro: blown big-block Chevy, led by Dean Karns & Papa Disco.
  • Comp Cams Dream Team, 1990 Mustang GT: turbo LS – led by Jeff Reed.

Highlights include team-on-team drama, a taco-eating contest (the winner got a complete NOS nitrous kit), a trip to a salvage yard for some parts shopping, and more. Of course there is a lot of hard work going on as the four teams put noses to grindstones in the quest to win $10K Drag Shootout glory. Visit HorsepowerWars.com to see it all!

Power Automedia today announced a partnership with Summit Racing Equipment who was tapped to be the official parts supplier of its new automotive show, Horsepower Wars. The new head-to-head web-based series features fierce competition between rivals in one of four venues: the dragstrip, road course, engine dyno, or chassis dyno.

In the first episodes, Pony Wars – Mustang vs. Camaro, two teams are given either a 2017 Mustang GT or 2017 Camaro SS. The teams then receive an initial $5,000 budget for bolt-on mods, followed by $15,000 for a boost build off. The cars will be competing in drag racing, road racing, chassis dyno, and 60-0 braking. Summit will not only help supply products, but Summit’s pricing will be used as a guide for each team’s budget.

Summit will also provide $7,000 of credit for each participant in the upcoming $10k Drag Shootout – in which teams are given only 10 days to buy, build, and then race a drag car with plenty of challenges along the way. The $10K Drag Shootout represents a perfect fit for Summit’s extensive parts availability as all parts selected by each team from Summit’s website will receive free overnight shipping.

“We’re excited to work with Power Automedia and Horsepower Wars,” said Al Noe, Summit Racing Chief Marketing Officer. “The show represents what our customers are all about– real people turning wrenches and making power in their own garages.”

“The $10K Drag Shootout is going to be an action-packed 10 days for all of the teams involved and those of us at here at Horsepower Wars,” said Andrew Wolf, Editor of Dragzine.com. “With a narrow frame of time to build a vehicle from the ground-up, drama is certainly inevitable, but it’s going to be exciting to watch the creativity of these teams and what they can brew up using only limited funds.”

Power Automedia announced today a partnership with leading aftermarket supercharger manufacturer, ProCharger.

ProCharger products will be featured primarily throughout two of the company’s upcoming automotive head-to-head Horsepower Wars episodes, “Pony Wars” and “LS vs. Coyote Part II.” In addition to be featured on the two episodes, ProCharger products will be the exclusive source for all forced-induction needs on the show.

Horsepower Wars’ LS vs. Coyote Shootout revisits Power Automedia’s simple, yet controversial debut into the series– but this time with two boosted versions of each engine, $15,000, and as much horsepower as possible.

Pony Wars, on the other hand, will be a 2017 Ford Mustang GT and a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS going head-to-head on a dyno, road course, and drag strip– first with $5,000 worth of bolt-ons, then with an additional $15,000 to spend and the brand new ProCharger D1X on both.

“Horsepower Wars is a really exciting automotive show that ProCharger is very proud to be involved in,” said Ken Jones, ProCharger CEO. “We’re looking forward to seeing what the teams and competitors pull off. ProCharger likes being involved with innovative concepts, and from what we’ve seen, this is just the beginning.”
